Nominator's project description
| Professor Tomasz Dietl obtains the Humboldt Award for his pioneering contributions in the field of magnetic semiconductors. He is one of the world leading experts of the newly emerging field of spintronics where one tries to comine ferromagnetic and semiconducting properties of solid state systems. His recent prediction of magnetic semiconductors eith Curie-temperatures above room temperature has opened a new field of material sciences - the search for high temperature ferromagnetic semiconductors. Together with his colleagues in Regensburg he plans to work both on magnetic semiconductors and on low-dimensional magnet/semiconductor hybrid structures. |
